Camera vacation

Well, I guess that our camera has decided that a vacation was needed!! Because it no longer works....#%&!#%!!!

Now we will have to take it to the shop, and see whether it can be fixed, or whether we have to buy a new one...

So, if you don't see any posts with pictures or no posts at all coming from this blog, then you know that it's because we are on the look out for a new camera!

Summershoes

The Lilybird Chandelier embroidery is done and has been taken of the embroidery hoop. Now I have to finish the Gingham dress, and I have a feeling that the embroidery will suit the dress just fine. I will show you dress when it's done.

I have started a new embroidery project - one which I have been wanting to do for a long time. And now that summer is here, I think that the motives are very up to date. Tiny pairs of Epadrillos, which are going to be made in different colours and stripes, that's what I'm makíng.... I also have this project in mind, for my favourite kind of shoes to wear at summer.

I LOVE Flip-Flops....and in the book Broderi på den fede måde" by Helle Mogensen, you get the instructions on how to turn a normal pair into your very own and very personal Flip-Flops.

It's all about shoes at the moment.....

In my garden

I love to take a little walk in our garden to see how our flowers are doing. I find it so life-affirming to see plants grow - and watch flowers bloom.

The pale pink rose is rather old, but I have never ever seen it with as many flowers as this year!

So far the purple flower is all by itself, but hopefully many more will join it during warm summer days.

And the blue one - well, that sure is blue!! I have never experienced this exact shade of blue on a flower. And it really surprised me that this "Ridderspore" turned out this way. I simply forgot how the colour would look! Nevertheless it's special and beautiful among the purple and the pink flowers, in the rest of our bed.

I'm no good at remembering all the names of our flowers, so I can't mention them here. I hope you will be content with the looks of them...

BEFORE and AFTER

After this

comes these....

The little fine paperbox, which contained the mobile from Rie Elise Larsen, was far too pretty to be used for nothing.

Then the pins found a new place to stay.........now I only have 2 more boxes to give a new "life".

Maybe my safety pins could use a little change of air??

My very own fisherman

Emil is taking part in a fine play at his school. His 5th grade class is performing the play "The fisherman and the flounder"

All the lines are spoken in English and it's a rather long play too.

Emil plays the part of the Fisherman (you can see him sitting in the boat at the picture) and we were so lucky to see him act the other evening. He is very good at English, but being a shy boy, we were exited to see how he would cope with the many people watching him.

And he even had to sing a song in the play - ALL by himself!

But we had NO reason to worry what so ever, because he did such a splendid job - really! We were so proud of him, and he himself was rather pleased by his performance.

Afterwards he was a bit hot though, due to the big yellow raincoat and the hat he had to wear to look like a real fisherman...

Emil and his class showed the play to another class today....I'm so exited to hear how he liked it this time.

Off they went

Now they are off - the little bunny and the big baby Binky Bunny. On their way to Sara in Copenhagen, along with the little knitted, blue dress and a card. Wrapped in some beautiful, red paper from Minimega.

Ears and arms, please

Well, I promised you to show a picture of the little toy friend I'm making for the baby Binky Bunny.

So here it is...or, rather here is some of it. I still need to make 2 arms and a set of ears....

Now it's just a matter of minutes before I can join it all, and present the Teeny Tiny Knitted Toy to the bigger bunny.

Annual exhibition

Yesterday my friend and I went to see the annual exhibition on Skals Håndarbejdsskole.

And we went to the lovely market, which is there as well, with lots of talented artists. Our favourite artist was definitely Karen Nybro Mogensen, who makes the most fantastic things. You should go have a look at her website KANYMO eventhough it doesn't quite show her beautiful things as they look for real.

Below are a few pictures of some of the works we saw at the crafting school.....

There are still a couple of hours left, if you feel like going there.....

SUNDAY: now it's too late ;0)

Hmrpffff!!!!

Finally I decided which pattern to use on my beloved water melon fabric by Marimekko. I bought 2 metres a long time ago, and have been saving it for the very perfect idea.

I did however overestimate myself in picking the right size, because the tunic was way too big!!! The pattern was French and I haven't made their grown up sizes before. But at least now I know that I have to be carefull when tracing the right size....

2 things

This FANTASTIC new Marimekko fabric from the shop KAIKU
AND

... these fabulous sandals from Angulus

...that's all I need to renew my wardrobe this summer!!

Bunny...now with blanket

More bunny talk! My first attempt at patchwork in many years...very simpel and not that lucky. But it was actually rather fun - especially because the pieces fitted a bit better this time. (Years ago I made some patchwork, which was not successfull at all to put it mildly! Crooked and irritatting are the most positive words I can say about that).

Time time it was a challenge to find the varoius fabrics to put together.

I tried to use a "flower theme" and to make red, pink, light blue and orange be the generally colours. To combine the prints and colours were definitely the most funny part, and I think that I could get rather impressed by that exact procedure in the future.

I had thought that this blanket would be the last thing I did, before I sent the bunny in the mail, but I have yet a plan. The baby Binky Bunny needs a tiny bunny toy friend....

Bunny

Baby Binky Bunny, originally uploaded by lille-ursus.

The baby Binky Bunny sits in our bookcase, while I'm making the blanket for it. (I tried to embroider 2 small safety pins on the diaper with some silver thread, but I don't know if I'm the only one, who can tell what they are!!)

Hopefully the bunny will not have to sit there for a long time, because I'm eager to get the knitted dress and the bunny sent to Copenhagen.

But when I get to do that, all depends on how far I get with the blanket today...

Eyes

I definitely need to wear my glasses all the time, but once in a while they have to have a little break! Especially when I have to concentrate on tiny stitches like the ones I embroider on the Lilybird Chandelier.

I have come a bit further with the candles....and it's still such a pleasure to make.

At the same time I'm making a pair of eyes - closed, sleeping eyes on a cute Baby Binky Bunny - a pattern created by Larissa from mmmcrafts. The pink and white Gingham bunny is going to be a part of a little present, which we are going to send to our 3 year old niece Sara in Copenhagen. She's also going to get the dress I knitted from the pattern at GARN-ITURE.

I'm loving all that embroidering - it's so relaxing and funny!

Lilybird Chandelier

I haven't really done any embroidery for a long time, and I kind of miss it. But a while ago I bought this gorgeous embroidery pattern made by Cathy Gaubert, and that was exactly what I needed to get started!

She's a tremendously good crafter and I can't say that she has made something which I don't like. Besídes that she's such a positive person with lots of humour. The way she looks upon everyday life with her children, is a big inspiration to me and must so for all mothers (and fathers).

I chose to sew the embroidery on white and purple Gingham. The piece of fabric is actually the front of a dress, so the Lilybird Chandelier is placed on the cheast of it.

The colours of floss were meant to be pastels only (you know how I feel about those colours!) but somehow a few green colours managed to sneak in.
I know that I'm going to make more editions of the embroidery pattern. I want to try out a version made in the same colour of floss on the entire embroidery - and I have to sew it on some flax too!
If you are tempted to make your own Lilybird Chandelier, you can buy the pattern right here....

Child and grownup sizes

The last weeks I have been making 2 tops/tunics.

One which fits a 4 year old and one made in grownup size. It's for a friend of mine and her daughter.

I used the pattern which I have been using a lot lately for the big one, and for the little top I used a pattern from one of my sewing books.

The fabric was chosen by my friend and it's very suitable for summer with all it's nice colours. Both tops are made from the same fabrics.

I added a little button - again - on the front of the little top. I like how the different prints mix with each other.

I haven't taken any pictures of the grownup top - I think that you have seen enough of that pattern for a while...

Now I think that I will make something else...but I know that the pattern will return on my sewing table again. I need to have a tunic in white for the summer.

Ready for posting

Soon the giveaway presents will reach their owners. At the moment the 2 parcels are placed on my chest of drawers, so I remember to post them tomorrow! Sometimes I forget a lot - that is not the case this time though...

I wrapped the clothes in some beautiful gift wrap tissue from the Danish company rice. I think that things look so delicate this way, and I love how it sounds when a piece of clothes is unwrapped from that kind of tissue.

Now I truely regret, that I didn't buy more packets of that gift wrap tissue yesterday on our little trip...

We are also hoping that the postman will bring something our way tomorrow. Emil is waiting for a pair of skateboard shoes from the USA, and he is so exited to see them. Nike SB they are called. SB meaning skateboard, which took me quite a while to figure out! Emil laughed at me for not knowing it, since it was so obvious.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow - the shoes are hopefully near their destination!

Days off

We sure have enjoyed the last couple of days off:
  • We spent some lovely time with my sister and her family eating pizza and watching our nationalteam in soccer win the match over Sweden
  • We went into our garden to fix stuff - but there is still lots to do
  • I did however, love the fact that many flowers have been sown without my interference. Nature took care of it all by itself...
  • We ate Hindbærsnitter at the beach on a dotty blanket, while Otto took yet another swim. I just adore the smell of wild Roses...
  • And finally new fabrics arrived from abroad - and the Liberty fabric from Malika og Rosa showed up at my doorstep the same day.

Now we are back at everyday life - but just for a while. Before we know it Summerholidays will be here....

2 winners were found

Today was the day to start the random number generator, and find the 2 winners of my little giveaway. I actually didn't use the machinery all by myself, because I had a very special and very fair helper right next to me. Emil was sort of the head judge if you like..... We entered the number of participants for the blouse - and the number 5 showed up on our screen.
SO, that means that you were the winner of the blouse
On we went to find the next winner - the one who should get the trousers. Number 4 was this round's lucky number.
That's why you won the trousers
I hope that both of you will pop by my blog, so I can send you an email and get your adresses. Or else I will leave a comment on your blogs, to let you know that you won....
Thank you so much to all of you - I'm really happy that you wanted to take part in my giveaway. Have a nice weekend...

Déjà vu

I made another one with dots and birds - I just adore that fabric! It was funny to sew this model again, and I love all the hand sewing which it brings along.
This tunic is going to be used as a birthday present...I hope the reciever will like it.
Do remember my giveaway - it ends tomorrow...

I will give it away

Well, I didn't make it in time for the big Giveaway Day arranged by Sew Mama Sew. But that doesn't matter. My give away will start right now, and end on June the 5th. The thing you can win, is up to you to decide.

Either you can choose this little blouse, which I sewed a while ago in size 98 centilong (2-3 years)
OR
you can pick this pair of trousers in flax. They are also size 98 centilong (2-3 years).

I hope you might want to take part in my little giveaway....just remember to write which piece of clothes you would like, in case you should be the winner. Then I will pick a winner for the blouse and one for the trousers.

A great mix if you ask me

A great mix, originally uploaded by lille-ursus.

I have an incredible urge to take my sewing machine outside on our terrace. Then I could sit at our black table and sew and enjoy the sun at the same time.

However, I will not do it - maybe our neighbours wouldn't approve of the noise the machinery makes...(not that our neighbours are grumpy at all - on the contrary!) A little bit of handsewing would probably be better - at least it's less noisy.

But it sure would be nice with that outdoor sewing machine - don't you think so??
