3 things . . .

. . .which made me smile today.

1.
The lovely and very handy pincushion which sweet Valerie made for me. I have found the perfect place for it. I always need a place to put my needles when I sew.

2.
The little arrangement in our livingroom. I adore the many different trays one can buy in IKEA. This is an old one, but it's a favourite anyway. And the plant remind me of these - I love, love, love those  little round pale pink flowers. I must remind myself to buy some seeds, so I can get them in my garden again.

3.
And finally this amazing dress from a knitting book I recently bought. It's called Mere Feminin Strik (More Feminin Knitting) and it's written by the always clever Lene holme Samsøe.
When I first flicked through the pages of the book,  I immediately fell in love with the dress (or tunic if you like). It's precisely what I would adore wearing to Emil's confirmation, and I have been searching high and low for it ever since!
So, now I hope that one of you out there knows exactly who it has been made by  - and maybe even where I can buy it. Okay, that's probably a bit too optimistic...

How on earth is it possible??

These shoes arrived from England yesterday. They are the ones which Anne-Sophie is going to wear with her 50ties dress at the gala. We bought them for her, but of course she picked them out herself.

I have never been good at wearing heels - at all! It's not that I can't walk in them, but somehow I don't think that such shoes suit me.

Nevertheless I think that heels are beautiful - and very stylish. And Anne-Sophie looked so lovely with her new high-heeled shoes on.

I asked her how long she will be able to wear them on that particular night in May, and will dancing come up at all? Anne-Sophie assured me that she would dance all night. "Don't worry mom, I have tried it so many times before". And she is right, she has lots of shoes with high heels in her closet.

So. Elegant she will be indeed, but her feet...I'm sure that they are ready for some very flat shoes when the gala is over!

A Wednesday in April

Today I got the lovely materials from Sort Lakrids. As always a kind and fast service from that shop.

I will start knitting the little cardigan today, because the Nova dress is now finished. Or should I say the knitting part is. I still need to sew on the buttons and weave in the ends. But that will not be today.

I really love the red Duo silk/ merino yarn for Christian's scarf. He hasn't seen it yet, but I'm sure he will love as well.

Our shopping day with Emil went so fine. He got some cool and beautiful clothes for his confirmation - everything bought in this shop.

Isn't it amazing? I thought that we were going to walk all around Århus all day long to look for his 2 sets of clothes and 2 pair of shoes.

By the way, he didn't get the purple ones, because he fell in love with these instead.

And a similar pair in black and white. He was so happy about it all and so grateful... That really touched me and my soft mommyheart.

We also found the fabric for Anne-Sophie's gala dress. We bought 5 metres of a beautiful and elegant coral colored fabric.
Now it's up to me to turn it into the fabulous dress Anne-Sophie has dreamt about...I hope that I can make her dream come true.

Tomorrow the preliminary negotiations begin...

Tomorrow is the day when we start buying the clothes for Emil's confirmation. We have been putting it up for as long as possible, because Emil is growing so fast these months. And we wouldn't want all the clothes to be too small when his big day arrives.

I have promised him that he can get some clothes which suits his personality - black jackets, ties and that kind of stuff is definitely not Emil. So we are going to visit some skateshops, which actually have very nice things. Even a decent white shirt with buttons, collar and such.

If Emil could have things his own way, he would love to wear these shoes to church. And I see why he likes them. But they are a bit too much on this particular occassion.

I think that the ones above would do a whole lot better, or the ones below. Emil like their style as well and he is okay with shoes, which are classic with a twist.

They are all skateshoes, I might add, and that is fine by me. There is no need to buy something which he can't use afterwards.
And the purple ones are probably coming home with us anyway - they will be great for Blue Monday...and for school days afterwards.

Picking the shoes will be easy peasy. I'm much more exited about how we will get along on deciding his trousers, shirts, sweaters and so on....

Holly & stars

Maybe I got inspired by the dark night outside (it's half past midnight!) or else it's just because of the fact, that I have always had a weakness for things with stars on them.

Nevertheless, I ordered a new pattern for myself. It's called Holly and I found it at STOF2000's online shop.

I needed some fabric as well and this time I had to have stars. On black. So that's what I got. That will suit Holly fine in my opinion.

Actually I ordered something else as well. Not in the same shop, but from Sort Lakrids. You know that I love that fine little shop.

The little A-line sweater you see on page 4 under products, and some new materials for yet another Sort Lakrids Scarf were the things I put into my virtual shopping basket.
This time the scarf will become red and when it's done, it will belong to my husband. And the baby sweater is going to be made in a beautiful light colour.

It's not that bad with late night shopping. . .but maybe a lot of you are already familiar with it.

One day I HAVE to make this. . .

However, for now I think that 120$ for a kit is a bit too much to pay for a blanket when there is no baby.
But I will make it - when the right baby comes along.

What is all the fuzz about you might think, when you look at the baby blankets. Well, first of all I love the fact that it's such a simple and pure style design.

And, of course, I love the yarn. Oh, the yarn!
It's not easy to tell from the pictures here, but if you take a look at Purl Soho's photos, you will see how vibrant and beautiful all the colours are. (Their website is down for the time being).

Then there is only one question left. Which colour combination should I get?? I adore number 1, 2, 3 (especially number 3!!) 4, 6 and 8. And I really like the rest.

How lucky that I have several years to make that choice...

Fabric talk

Today I dream of light, airy linen with beautiful simple dots. Like the ones from the Hullabaloo fabric collection by Urban Chiks for Moda.

The one above is called Polka dot white and the one below is Polka dot pastel. Just my kind of colours.

I'm also in love with the Sherbet Pips collection by Aneela Hoey for Moda. Especially this one with endless rows of scarfs - and so the name has to be Scarf Stripe Cherry.

Finally I must mention this fantastic fabric from Joel Dewberry. It's Sparrows Lilac from the Aviary 2 fabric collection by Joel Dewberry for Free Spirit.

It comes in several different colourways but I'm totally into this one. The purple with the turquoise and green is so lovely. I hope that I get myself to sew a tunic (for me) in this fabric - at least sometime in the future. And if it becomes autumn before I get it done, then it's okay. The colours are more autumn-like anyway.

If...

...Anne-Sophie still was a little girl, who had a bed for her doll on her wishlist, I wouldn't have to think twice before I bought this little beauty of a bed.

Now I know...

...which colour the buttons are going to be in the little Nova dress I'm knitting. Turquoise!

I knew that from the very minute I weaved in the turquoise embroidery floss, to mark where the decreasings were going to be made.

And I have an idea about which buttons I want to use - or should I say which I want to make...

I knew it!

Playing with picnik, originally uploaded by lille-ursus.

The other day I bought these fine little plastic glasses in IKEA (and they only cost less than 4$).
When I put them in the blue IKEA bag in the shop, my husband looked at me and smiled.

"Ohhh! they are so sweet", he said with a barely concealed giggle. "What are you going to do with those?" (And if I know him right, he thought that they were what he characterises as knick-knack.)

"You will see", I told him.

And here you are my gorgeous husband - some of the colourful glasses are perfect containers for little flower heads. And there will be more...I still have 4 left in the box.

At lightning speed

This fabulous cup would make me finish my milk - because I'm not fond of hot drinks at all! - in no time!

And we still wonder

After a wonderful sunny walk on the beach on Christian's birthday, everyone in my little family has an unanswered question.

It all began with our - usual - hunt for fossilized Sea Urchins. Whenever we go to a beach we commence a family quest for the fine round fossils.
The person who finds the most has won.

This time I won because of all the many fine examples I picked up. Not a normal outcome of our quests.
Christian, however, was the one who found the most special stone - and it wasn't even a Sea Urchin...

It was this beautiful redish stone, which has 2 tiny balls inside of it.
It's so amazing to look at, and it really has puzzled our minds through the last days.

What on earth is it? Which kind of stone? Maybe it's just another ordinary stone for someone who has a lot of knowledge in the stone area. But we have never seen anything like it...

Green, green grass

Photo from Pernittengryn

I wouldn't mind spreading some green, green grass couches on the bench in our kitchen. It can actually be a reality if I buy some of the lovely fabric from Pernittengryn.

If you decide to check out their site, then give yourself the pleasure of seing their wonderful fabric altimeter. We have had one for many years now and it's beautiful to look at as well as being very useful.
